Found this page by googling that latest spam I got: 0179246095. These guys are cheeky and if you’re a bit fast to tell them what you think of being annoyed on a regular basis by the same message they call you back again to vomit insults to you and then hang up!!!

I’m having the same problem. I can think of two ways for this, one is tell them nicely that you just upgrade the phone don’t need an upgrade in a year time. Or ask the network provider to ban the number. Hope it helps :).

When I asked who they are the girl replied her first name and eluded the question, pretending not to understand then hung up. I wonder when that starts to be illegal and we can actually turn to police? My phone provider called them and got back to me advising to register to TPS (08450700707) but no number banning option…

Also my spam of today was 02920368701 again and they claimed to be “communications direct”. If it’s them: communicationsdirect.net then feel free to spam them in return

Just got my first call from 01792 462095. They told me that my contract expires in a month, when it actually expires September 2007. They just hung up straight away, the rude sods.

I got a call at 12.30 from 01792 462095 today from a polite gentleman who called and said that i was in my last 30 days of my contract would i like an upgrade when i asked if he worked for 02 he said no so i politely advised him that i wasn’t interested and to put a note on the account i was quite happy to stay with o2. less than one hour later i got another call when i asked the guy if he was taking the mick he replied “i’m taking the piss now you f**king northern monkey” i terminated the call and he called back and said nothing. i have tried to ring back but there is now no answer. any idea how i can get this complained about and who too?

02920368701 has been calling me since last Friday. I missed the call but called back, after it rang out for ages, I asked why they called and was asked if I had an upgrade in the last 10 months. I said I wasn’t due until February. They said they’d phone back then. I’ve since been called 2/3 times a day since. Genius! Communications direct. wda.co. uk/ resources/ CommsDirect.pdf has the names of the directors of the company. I wonder if they would like to be called over and over again at different times during the day. Also their website are advertising for telesales account executives, and customer “care” advisors. So if anyone wants to be a pain in the @rse for a living, there it is.

Got one of those SPAM calls as well.

Amazing that I’m only a month or so away from my call plan annual renewal! It is almost as if they know my contract is almost up for renewal. Something isn’t quite right with this one.

Thanks for the useful info. My daughter is being bugged by the 01792462095 callers. There seems little point in requesting the TPS to remove you from marketing lists as some of these companies operate outside of the law. In our case it appears to be a case of targeting customers in the last month of their O2 contract. Any people in a similar position should walk out on O2 and go with someone else as O2 are at fault for leaking data to these people in the first place. Another tip - just use your contact list on the phone to associate that number with a name such as “Tosser from Swansea” and you don’t ever have to talk with them again.

A lady called me with a number of 01792637090, asking me the thing regarding “Mobile phone contract”, it’s so strange that it’s not the right time to ask me update mobilehone, since there is 4 months more to go to end the 12 month contract.

When I asked her “Which mobile phone that you refers to?” This woman just said “Bad signal, I cannot hear you ….” then hanged up the phone.

Eventualy I called the guy on the other line a c**t and when his friend called asking to suck my c**k I said that if he had a copy of my contract in front of him and had my address, he should come and see me and i’ll show him what will happen (the word ice-axe came into the conversation and the use of!!!!). If you contact your phone provider like O2 they have a no cold caller option which stops you getting these calls! You will get the odd few but if you tell them you are part of this plan and they are to remove your number, they will have to as they will be breaking the law otherwise and could be deeply fined or even worse. I have provided several numbers and names to my phone provider! ive stop getting the calls now!

Hi - I work for a (reputable) outbound call centre - and can tell you that these guys are breaking the law. Ofcom regulations state that they have to leave a recorded message, advising how you can unsubscribe if you don’t answer when they call, and if they call and you don’t answer they can’t call again for 72 hours. They also can’t call after 8.30pm in the evenings, or on a Sunday. I suggest anyone who gets a call that breaks these rules logs a complaint with Ofcom - they can face a fine of £50k for every instance of a breach of these regulations. The alternative is to answer each call and simply put them on hold for 5-10 minutes - going back every so often and telling the operator that you’re interested but finishing another call. They will log you as a time-water and not call again - that’s what we do! Good luck everyone.

02920368792 are calling me every day - after I told them several times I wasn’t interested months ago. I’m also an O2 customer and will be cancelling my contract when I can. In the meantime I’ve signed up to the Telephone Preference Service so I can formally complain to Ofcom if they keep doing it.

I have NOw been gettin 6 phone calls a day in work from 01792462095….. can’t turn my phone off or put it on silent because i use it for work… they have even started with holding their number as well.. my contract is not up until late july and they were telling me it was up in 3 weeks….. i called virgin after the first 3 phone calls about it and asked them politely to stop phoning about my contract and they informed me that it wasn’t them…..
i got my contract from onestopphoneshop.co.uk part of the carphone warehouse company …. but i do remeber there being something about being contacted by outside companies and i said no….. don’t get caught by this if you can print the page with this on it cause i wished i had ….. because i would be taking them to court by now for breaching the data protection a BIG NO NO for companies

Received a call from Zoe who works for the “company” who use 01792462095 and she said that my 02 contract expired within the next 30 days (A lie). I said that I was with Carphone warehouse and was put onto her manager who “explained” that I was with 02 and that Carphoen Warehouse had nothing to do with my phone. I was then returned to Zoe and she asked if I was interested in accepting her offer. I started to say that I would see what Carphone Warehouse had to offer, when she cut me off in my prime. “I am gutted”. Got this page from Carphone Warehouse Loyalty department!

Just have received a call from 08007838422 and they told they were from HSBC and the person on the phone was asking for some “verification” answers.
First request was to confirm my exact birth data which I did but the second question was if I have a withdrawal limit with HSBC so I decided not to answer and put the phone down.
I suspect this was not only a cold call but they wanted to get all my bank account and personal details out of me on the phone in a few minutes.
Do not volunteer any information!!!!

People will be given the ability to mark numbers that turn out to not be cold-callers as such - as I am going to allow people to have live feeds of the entire data-set from my site, in case they want to do things like supplying their phone systems with a set of blocked numbers.

My Wife got a similar call last year and accepted the phone - when we tried to cancel the next day they wouldn’t give her a returns number and tried to charge her £80. It ended up going to trading standards and 3 said they wouldn’t deal with companies like this again - looks like they are, perhaps we should be having a go at them for not investigating their resellers methods.

just tell them its a company mobile and they hang up before youve even finished the sentence.
Mine is a company phone but they dont know that.

I’ve just been called by 02920368792, didn’t answer. I have just cancelled my contract with Vodafone with the intention of changing to PAYG. I’m very careful about ticking or not ticking the appropriate boxes to make sure i am not ok’ing anyone calling me, and i’m registered with the TPS. I can therefore only assume Vodafone passed on my details.

Right then! They have activated my wrath! I got the call from 02920 368792 and the hang up. I rang them back and asked who they were (mumbled reply). Told them the european Laws e.t.c. and not to call me again. HOWEVER. I get fed up with this so I have done some checking to try and get details of a company.

Using the 02920 368701number from Mr M on 21st Feb in this blog, I assumed that the two were related (they only differ on the last 2 digits). Google searching found a company called ‘Communications Direct Ltd.’ (exact spelling essential). They are based in Swansea at 33 HEATHFIELD, SWANSEA, SA1 6HD. Company No. 04806820. Furthermore, another search revealed that they have opened an office based at Floor 5
Dominions House, Dominions Arcade, Queen Street, Cardiff, CF5 1DU - Thus explaining the 02920 code. BEWARE there is also a Communications Direct (not Ltd) situated on the floor below. I will let you make conclusions.

They apparently use the TPS system but we seem to have experienced something different. I hope they find this blog and change it. In fact I encourage them to respond here.

The line went dead when I answered. Don’t think this caller is limiting to O2 or Vodafone services. I’m with T-Mobile PAYG service so looks like random number selecting.

About time the phone software designers included an option to allow users to block unwanted numbers being accepted. Would be very useful if your other respondents are having so many attempts to get through.

I just got a call from 02920 368792 also. I’m Vodafone and originally got my Vodafone contract with Phones4U which I cancelled before moving to Vodafone. (This is prior to Vodafone buying/merging Phones4U).

Usually when you get a call from these numbers and get no one on the other end it means that they do not actually have any operators ready at their end as they are all busy dealing with other calls.

I believe there are motions in place to ban this type of calling as the frail and vulnerable often find this kind of calling highly disturbing and scary. I don’t know how far along this piece of law or regulation, whatever it may be is at the moment.

I would assume it is at an Ofcom level that it is being dealt with, although it may be at a parliamentary level. I’m not sure. I originally heard about this being tackled on BBC’s Watchdog a number of months ago. There maybe some information on their website: http://www.bbc.co.uk/watchdog/

Then I find your info and everyone’s comments… great.
I have been receiving these unwanted calls for some time, even from companies claiming to be my network provider, and are not. No matter how many times I have requested no to be contacted again, they care less… I have now registered with TPS, also because OFCOM suggests is on its site. Hopefuly it will work… if not, these leeches should compensate and disappear!

Had a call from 02920368701, claiming to be from 3 and asking whether i’d had an upgrade. When i asked them what company they were calling from they said 3, when i told them that was a trademark not a company and asked why they didn’t know i had had an upgrade they admitted they were from Communications Direct.

Surely some law against such blatant misrepresentation, hopefully TPS will work.

I have had a few calls from 029 20368792 recently. What I did was store the number into the phone book with the name ‘do not answer’ and set the ringing tone from this number to ’silent’.

I’ve been hounded by many of those numbers over time and thanks to research on Google have never had to deal with them as I’ve always learnt to avoid numbers I don’t recognise. Today I had a call from 02920368792, I Googled it and I spotted this site. From what I can tell the people who man these phones are cheeky f**kers and the company shoddy to say the least. As with anything, if you want it you get it, not wait for someone to offer it to you.

Incidentally, anyone reading this with a Nokia smartphone (if you’re not sure Google your model number and “s60″) should try an app called “Phone Pilot”, it intercepts your calls within a split second so it can deal with calls before you are disturbed. Amusingly you can even record a message to begin straight away, so you can fool them into thinking they are speaking to you, not a recorded message. I didn’t have it set up this time but if they call back later……hahaha

It drives me mad…thankyou for this extremely uself blog, I won’t be answering calls from the b*****ds again, but I do wish I knew who it was! Also, I recently stopped to sign a ‘Make Trade Fair’ petition for Oxfam, and I never will again, because the f****rs kept ringing me up again and again asking for money!! It was from a different number (can’t remember what though) but I wonder they have anything to do with the calls I’m getting now? Oxfam also made my phone ring but no one would be there when I answered sometimes, apparently they do that to establish times when you’re in and will answer the phone - c**ts…

My mobile is registered with the TPS but still get the spam numbers coming through. Phoned TPS who explained some of these call which appear to come from the UK are actually coming from other countries and very difficult to stop as the number is basically bounced around like Spam email.

After ringing the number and listening to their message which said they were HSBC I got a little worried and I rang HSBC to ask if they had rung me. They said they were unable to trace the call and HSBC had not rung me today. mmmmm.

Just wanted to share my experiences.

Until a month or so ago I was receiving nuisance calls from 02920368701, which is Communications Direct in Cardiff (I hate to be pernickety, but contrary to text above, the Cardiff office was the first to open, followed by Swansea, followed by a further office in Cardiff above the existing office - despite the Ltd they are the same company). After several emails and me physically yelling at them down the phone, they stopped ringing me.

However, I have now moved on to a new nuisance! 08000649955 have now taken to ringing me regularly. Today alone I have missed three calls from them - at 15:43, 10:50 and 9:43. THANK YOU for having this site and allowing me to share responses from other Spam victims! I have discovered that this company are LBM although when calling back the number I’m told that they are “American Life”. If this continues I will contact this LBM and run the same rampage that finally stopped Communications Direct contacting me!

Oh, and I am a member of the TPS too. Sucks really when b******s like these don’t follow it.

Just had my first experience of such a call. couldn’t get the phone out of my pocket in time, saw the number and like it seems so many other i ended up finding this site. Excellent site and excellent information that many have provided.

I actually work in switzerland. I wish there was some way I could rack up the call charges for them.

But the best thing to do is probably ignore them. From what I’m reading they will only try and get their own back. I’m amazed, given that how easy it ought to be to track the numbers concerned, that action has not already been taken against them.

I suppose if you are good enough to think on your feet and knew what kind of number it was before answering, you could pretend to be a police detective answering the phone of someone who has just been found murdered and start asking all sorts of questions about how well they knew the victim, where were they at 11.00pm last night, could they come in for questioning etc etc.

I’m sure I saw a similar thing once on a website and it made for some funny reading.

Here’s a trick: when you get them on the phone, ask the caller to give you their name, then ask them yo spell it (be very polite and sound interested in their deals), then ask for the company name, and ask them to spell it. Keep asking for details about their company, and deals, and get everything spelt over and over. Time how long you can keep them going!

I called back on a landline was a recorded message told me that I had been called by Carphone Warehouse about a non-urgent matter and that they would try to call me again.

This is not a matter of panic as my contract is with Carphone Warehouse, but if they do call me I shall be making clear that I do not want any “promo” calls for upgrades etc and that I have told them this before.

I’ve been having several phone calls a day from 01772 208606 for the past three months, they’ve already rang twice this morning…..I sent a busy tone and literally a half second later I was being called by 02920 368792. I also just googled the number and found this page. My phone doesn’t seem to have the option to ban numbers anymore, so I’m about to ring up Orange and have both numbers barred, I’m sick of it.

Great list mate, very useful. I didn’t read through every post on this site but has anyone tried asking where they got your details from, especially those who knew peoples names. These details are personally identifiable which means they belong to you so you’ll be able to ask these annyoing people where they got them from, to remove you from their call lists and request confirmation in writing once this has been done. Also always ask for names, a contact number and mailing address/company number to cover all bases that way if they don’t comply with your wishes they will end up being in breach of the data protection act.

I know this is a lot to do but you should only need to do it once if you have found the source of this information. When confirming with the source that you would not like your details sold they too will have to comply. It’s worked for me with previous numbers and I will be attempting the same with my current mobile phone number after receiving a few calls from the numbers listed here.

I wonder how much do they pay for calls. perhaps the best way is to answer, ask them politely to wait a minute till you e.g. ‘change my baby’s nappy and put the phone aside.

They rang me back a few minutes later, using 01495796484, which seems to be a new one.

i got a missed call from 01772 208606. the latest in a succession of missed calls from similar 01772… numbers. i called them back & i actually got to speak to a person. i asked them to take me off their list. hopefully it will work..

We need to hit at the root behind these people, as various people have suggested in their comments.

Try and find out about companies who are helping or sponsoring them and write to their managing directors as well as contacting OFCOM.

Maybe we should set up a campaign to have abusers like these blocked.

Accidentally left the phone in the car yesterday and when I picked it up this morning I noticed 3 missed calls from 01925555601 and 1 from 08700677841. Nxet time they call I’m going to calmly tell them where they can shove their service and take it from there.

I’ve just had a call from 01495796484, which is mentioned above in a previous post. Said they wanted to ask questions about my orange contract. Told them I haven’t been with orange for some time, at which point she asked which network I am on. Told them its none of their business and she promptly went away!

I have been called regularly by 08000641087 - seems like the others - answer - no reply. My guess is that it is for building a current number database for spammers.

I’ve only just got an orange PAYG phone and haven’t even given my number to anyone yet so was surprised to find a missed call today from 02920 368792.

I work in a full timer job and everytime i get the call im at work, its like they think eveyone can drop what there doing to to talk to someone.its annoying. my contract is about to end and i can say i wnt be going back to the carphoneware house due the probleams i have had. though there after sales is ok i had no probleams there.

I was told (when I called Orange customer services) that if ever you are in doubt of whether it is genuinely Orange (or whoever) calling you, ask them to tell you what contract you are on and when it runs out.

If they don’t know the most basic details about your contract they are just trying to take you for a ride!

My mobile has been phoned everyday for the last week by 08007838422, but I never answer calls from numbers that I don’t recognise. I enter unknown numbers into Google, and in this case found this site.

If the call is genuinely from HSBC (as reported by others) why don’t they ever try to contact me at home? In any case, I’ve never given my mobile number to HSBC, so I’m sure this is malicious.

Got caught out in March as hadn’t checked caller display before answering landline. Believed it was BT following up on a hub broadband connection order until call finished and I checked number which was 02071921100. Turned out to be a telemarketing service with additional number 02074184218. Phoned BT who said number not known to them and thhen bank to change security details. Also phoned on mobile by 02920368701 on 14th June in the morning. Ended call immediately I realised it was another cold caller.

I have generally found with these types of calls that answering wait for ther person to speak & then blow very hard on a football refs whistle right by the mouth piece is usually enough to get them to stop calling!

I am constantly getting phone calls from these companies (up to 4 a day), and have done since last November. This is the first time I have found this site and thanks to you all for your information and advice.

I’ve actually sent an e-mail to the Western Mail (national newspaper of Wales) to inform them about this site as I don’t really believe that what these companies are doing is legal.

Hopefully they’ll look at the site and write something about Communications Direct (as they are a Welsh Company and apparently the Welsh Company of the year if their website is to be believed)

The company is called CardiffPrincipal. I can not find much on them but in google they seem to be linked to Loansites. But they do keep asking for another named person at the address and we have only recently moved here, years after that person got a O2 PAYG phone at a previous address. Does anyone else know more about CardiffPrincipal.
We also get at least 2 calls a week from a company called Amber, very polite operators, but a pain.

Also to Eric post (08/06/07) re PPS this creates a list of all the numbers that have asked to be removed from coldcalling and the companies have to purchase the list. A company director was taken to court last year for borrowing the PSS list that a relative (in the same room) had purchased for his company. The list was then used to call those most recently added to it and telling them that they had to pay (£25 I think) for the privalage of being added to the list even though it is free, many older persons paid up.

Hope this all makes sence, sorry if it does not, I am Dyslexic.

First time i have googled and number (01925244007) and found your site, brilliant thank you. As many have said in the past you have saved me a phone call. There must be some clever clogg out there that could devise a phone system where by, instead of showing you the number on your phone “caller display” it would display the name of the caller, O2 could keep a data base of this and sell it to us as a service. OK keeping this up to date might be a problem but hey O2 has the phone book!

If i could store and update the database on my own phone then if i would enter all the numbers listed on your website into the memory of my phone so it displays “SPAM”.

I would even pay for a service from your website to get an email when a new number was listed. And imagine if i had a phone that was USB i could download those numbers to the memory and say goodbye, or something stronger, to these calls.

Now if my phone also had IR or bluetooth then i could upload the info to my mobile and we could put a whole industry out of action as no one would answer the calls.

This number called the house at 8pm and asked my son for his date of birth and postcode. I told them that if they were HSBC, as they claimed, they should already know that information.

The Asian sounding lady (suggesting a call centre abroad) said that she needed verification before she could tell me why she was ringing. With that I said I was terminating the call and would visit the branch tomorrow. Unfazed by this, she merely gave me a reference to give to the bank!

I just received a phone call from 01495 796484. Just 2 rings, by the time I’d picked up my phone they’d hung up. Something like that always makes me suspicious, so I googled the number and ended up here. Good work, team.

These guys don’t give up! I have asked them 7 times to remove my name from their list, and that I will renew with my own mobile provider. They just hang up! Surely there is some way or getting them to remove our names? Or to stop them calling repeatedly? Any ideas?

Just had a missed call from 01495 796484 so had a look on Google and found this site. Unsurprisingly I am also an Orange customer and am sick of getting calls from their third party salespeople. I have registered with the telephone preference service for both my landline and my mobile. In the case of the landline it seems to have cut them out almost completely- none for a couple of months- and with the mobile this is the first one I have had in some weeks. In the event that I do answer one I tend to let them get talking then say “goodbye” and hang up on them.

I tend to try to puzzle them by telling them I don’t have a mobile - usually makes them hang up!

I continaully get called from 08000 641087 when I answer its silent. I am now sometimes getting this call twice and maybe three times a day.

I have now registered my mobile with the tps and will give it 28days(the amount of time it takes for registration to take effect) if it doesnt stop I will be complaining to The Information Commissioner’s Office.

I wish these people would just leave me alone.

Hi, same as Sue. I’ve had a call from 01495 796484 that came straight up as a missed call, didn’t even ring. I googled and found your site- superb. Maybe they are waiting to see if you call back or answer to get numbers to sell their own database as there’s lots of money in lists like these.

Also, I was an Orange customer over 5 years ago, but my number was transferred onto my company phone and my number has been on TPS for several years too- so no hope of getting rid of them as they obviously just ignore it.

I was phoned by that number at 7am this morning!! It woke me so I never answered it as I was annoyed. Researched it tonight to see who it was and it is not ‘HSBC’ as they are claiming. DO NOT give them your details if they phone. They will ask for details and raid your account

i called back and it played a recording of a ringing tone… so it’s fishing for you to ring back to pay the 0870 charge… so dont!!!!

Just wanted to say that it’s been a long time since I posted (4 months!) and now that my TPS has kicked in properly, all nuisance calls have stopped. I strongly suggest to EVERYONE that they register with TPS. Yes, it takes 28 days for it to become fully effective, but it’s free and in my case has worked.

I may be back in November when I’m due to upgrade, so look out for me - the calls might start again!

Regarding the HSBC number 08007838422. I went to the HSBC website and called one of their phone numbers in the ‘contact us’ tab. They were able to confirm to me that this is a genuine HSBC number.

Although I would recommend checking for yourselves so as to avoid any allegations over the authenticity of this post.

I have just received a call from 02920616000 and Im on Orange, I actually missed the call as I am at work, but thought the number looked strange, so did a search on good ole google and up this popped.

I have had plently of experience of cold callers ringing when I was with O2, so decided a change of network was required, but it seems that these scrupulous companies will go to no ends to get hold of your details from anywhere, that includes from reputable companies whom you think your data is safe with. What really happens is that any info you submit on the intranet, is valuable info and is sold to these 3rd party a***holes time and time again. Once they have you, you are stuffed basically. You can register with TPS, which I would recommend anyone receiving these types of call do immediately. Once you are registered if you do receive any further calls you can either tell the w***er on the other end of the line that your registered on TSP and shouldn’t be calling you or you can try and get info about who they are and report them to TPS. All companies who make calls are supposed to check there numbers against the TPS and it’s illegal for them to call you if you are registered. Funny enough on my last contract this worked wonders and I stopped receiving nuisance calls, but now I have a new phone and a new number and hey ho, there back again, there’s no point ignoring the calls either, coz they will just keep ringing it over and over again, oh and watch out for these companies claiming to be your service provider, firstly your service provider will very rarely call you and if they do, they will always ask you to confirm any password details.

I got the same number as Mike at twenty to five today. I’m on Orange too.

Mike is absolutely right sbout the TPS scheme, I have it on my landline and it has really made a difference. If you are interested, you can also do the same for advertising mail via MPS. Fax users have a similar facility FPS. Go and have a look at the site, there’s even more than this and all services are run by the same organisation.

It’s free too.

No it doesn’t, it just means that either a) they know roughly which series of vodafone numbers are likely to be close to the end of their contract - not difficult as they tend to be released in sequential blocks or b) they are genuine resellers who need to have access to the vodafone database to enable them to do genuine upgrades, but are abusing the database by searching for people that are around upgrade time (if they are doing this then Vodafone would be interested as they should not use the databases this way).

it is silly to make assumptions of where the fault is when you do not understand what you are talking about.

Had a call from 02920368701, claiming to be from 3 and asking whether i’d had an upgrade. When i asked them what company they were calling from they said 3, when i told them that was a trademark not a company and asked why they didn’t know i had had an upgrade they admitted they were from Communications Direct.

Surely some law against such blatant misrepresentation, hopefully TPS will work.

Communications Direct are actually Welsh business of the year, and Three pay them millions to sell their contracts - so they didn’t misrepresent at all. Had they said O2, then you might be correct.

They sell as 3 Direct Sales also, which is the company name you were looking for. The building, ISO’s and tax however are all registered under Communications Direct - the name they trade under when dealing indirectly. If someone phones from the number however saying 3 Direct Sales, they are actually representing 3 directly.

I know for a fact Gwyn Jones from Hutchinson 3G regularly visits the Cardiff office. Not sure he would be doing that if they weren’t selling directly for three, would he?

I am being harassed by 01925/0845 numbers listed above and this is after I cancelled my carphone warehouse contract and told them i was going over to pay and you go. got a different number and now they are calling on that!!! How scary is it that they can access your phone number. I already told them to go away and said I am not going to take out another contract, I am on PAYG, please go away. They stopped for a while, now I am being hounded on a new number. This is hardly going to convince me to recommend/sign up again. I will spread the word to as many people never to sign up with carphone warehouse EVER!!!

Ive recieved a call from 08007838422 too, the guy said from HSBC, he just wanted to confirm that it was me he was speaking to, he was from fraud prevention. He seemed genuine enough as he knew about the payment i made 5 minutes previuosly (amount and who to) and the payment I was trying to make as as the website declined my card and he rung me about it 2 seconds later. He didnt ask me any detailed personal questions (only my name), just about recent payments from my account!!! Hope this helps.

One of those numbers (07782333325) keeps phoning my up while I am at college, at midnight and also keeps sending me texts. It gets so annoying.

They say that they are phoning from “3G phone provider”, they failed to tell me which one.

I have told them to stop phoning so many times and I even joined telephoning preference but they continue to bug me.

They tend to phone even more when my contract is about to run out so somebody (*cough*Hutchison 3G aka Three*cough*) has been sharing information about me despite ticking the “do not contact me/do not pass on info” box.

Ok well I’m just going to put a different spin on things. I used to work on incoming calls in a call centre but there was also a an area dedicated to outbound calls, but it had a no cold-calling policy.

One of the campaigns that they worked on was renewing Broadband contracts with existing customers on behalf of BT. A lot of customers were happy to sign up, but of course there were plenty who started shouting and swearing down the phone, claiming they were ex-directory or registered with TPS but were receiving cold calls.

This campaign was not cold calling. Even if you are registered with TPS, as long as you had a previous contract with BT (which all the clients did), the call centre was perfectly entitled to ring you, because they were effectively working for BT during the duration of the campaign. Even though the people on the end of the phone do not work for BT Broadband, they are working on behalf of them. This means the job is telesales (because you would be encouraging customers to renew a contract) but not cold calling (because the numbers were not just randomly picked from Yellow Pages, but an existing list of current BT customers).

I also just want to say that whoever claims that people who phone you are digusting and need to get a ‘real job’ should really get off their high horse. People that work on outbound calls are usually students or tend to use the job as a ‘filler’ between jobs, and it was rare to find anyone who had worked there for more than about 3 months. I think this is a lot more respectable than someone who would just sponge benefits off the government.

The abuse these people receive is awful. At the end of the day, they are only doing their job and not trying to annoy you on purpose. They don’t enjoy ringing you!

I am in no way defending cold calling - yes, it is incredibly annoying - but these people are just trying to earn their pathetic wage. Register with TPS and then it will be illegal for anyone to cold call. If you still get a phone call, it’s probably not cold calling.

I was really confused when I first got a call fom these time wasters! I didnt know who it was because I was in my maths class so ignored it. When I read the number I was slightly interested in who it was but didnt call back as I often dont have enough credit. I asked if anyone knew what the area code 02920 was but noone knew. I got the call on the 24th September 2007 and I didnt think to google it until now when this page popped up. Im so glad I know what it is now so a big thankyou to you =D Luckily I think they gave up on me because I’ve only had the one call. The intention is to get you to do a Google search and hopefully open a web site that gives you a list of lots of Internet sales sites. So it’s really just a sneaky sort of business directory!

I had a call earlier from 07782333325 they said they were calling from 3 in Glasgow and that my contract was ending in a couple of months….they said they could give me the new k850i on a really appealing plan, I asked them to call back when I had had a think but then I got thinking a phoned the number back….this put me through to 3 in India, they couldnt tell that someone had phoned me earlier by their computer and they dont even have this phone on 3 yet! So im still a bit baffled as its probably spam but why when I phoned it back did I get through to 3!??!!!???

I just got called by 02920822637 (a numer listed on this page) at around 2:30 pm. Weirdly, my mum also just got called by that same number today too.
A couple of days ago we kept on getting called by 08005875290. Picked up the phone, no one there. We were called around 6 times by this number, the last at 11:50pm.
Since then, we haven’t had any more calls from them.

Marc is right: don’t tell them anything. It’s none of their business which network you’re on or how much you pay each month.

As has been said several times previously, do register with the Telephone Preference Service: www.tpsonline.org.uk. It doesn’t take long to sign up and it’s great to be able to report these annoying people whenever they bother you. It’s nice to be able to tell them that you’re going to report them, too!

When they call, answer, and keep quiet. It costs them money and confuses them why you are not speaking. A little revenge for you, and they should not call back.

I got a call from 02920 822637 on my daughters phone so I rang it back from my company mobile and got through to someone who would not give me any information on who they were until they had my name and number which I didn’t.

It was great fun when he explained that the number he called was “com-pu-ter gen-er-a-ted” in a condecending manner (which I applauded for it’s comedy value).

I had a call this afternoon. The guy I spoke didnt apologies for calling so I said I was busy (which I was) so he said he would call back later - I told him not to bother - he said that I didnt even know why he was calling, it might be important - I said ‘is it’ ? - and he went on to ask ‘how much I was paying a month’ - I reply immediately, “there I knew it wasnt important” - he hung up !!

So i started the search and ended up here.. For what reason would they try to get in contact with me here in Norway? Are they going worlwide?
Never experienced that earlier, but it will probably not be the last time.

佛法是「心」法，所以一切得從「心地」做起。「萬法唯心造」，自己要往六道路走，或要往西方極樂世界的路走，完全都取決在自己「心的品質」。我們凡夫因為八識（習氣的倉庫）存檔了很多深重的貪、瞋、痴、分別、我執、五欲六塵、…等等妄想、執著的習氣種子，要是沒真修行，就會永遠留在六道轉圈圈，因為凡夫心在往六道走的這條路上走得很自然，很習慣又熟悉，所以每次來到人世間，雖然有離六道的機會，但因為沒修行或沒修成功，才會再次跟著自己的習氣往熟悉的原路走（隨業走）。等再輪到得人身，「至少」又要等個幾百年，要是下了三惡道，那種生活是很痛苦淒慘。往生西方極樂世界，成佛這一條路，雖然我們凡夫很陌生，但只要我們有真正用佛經裡面的話來行，「一方面真信願行念佛，一方面改習氣」（一門深入），今生自然可換跑道（走向往生西方，成佛之路）。只要有真信願行持名南無阿彌陀佛，即是一切佛號、一切佛經、一切佛法的總持。
末法眾生因無福與佛同住世間共同生活，也很難有機會遇到真善知識，沒有佛在身邊時時加持與教育，且自己又常以表相的文字意理為佛法，不知何為真修行，不知何為真改習氣，找不到解脫之路。佛早就知道末法眾生的根性及處境可憐，為了要救度末法眾生，所以釋迦牟尼佛與阿彌陀佛才特地合作，推廣簡易殊勝的「信願行念佛」法門。
凡夫因妄心攀緣攀習慣了，所以若能一門深入修淨土法門，讓心裡「攀」著這一句佛號，就是最適合世間人走的路。雖然很多人都在念佛（走淨土法門)，但卻有不少人，不得其門而入，而淨土法門是「在八萬四千法門以外，但又包含八萬四千法門」，是最簡易又有佛力幫助的最殊勝法門，不但不需老師教導，且不論士農工商，何時何地皆可念佛，一點都不會影響到工作與日常作息。只要自己「一輩子皆堅信南無阿彌陀佛這六個字，不論身在何處，只要心不須專事時，心要萬緣放下，心不離佛號，佛號不離心，心甘情願的念佛 (信、願、行念佛) 」，即可更平安順利，與家人、他人相處得更和諧，且今生與世間緣盡了，亦可不須再去輪為動物體或…等六道身體，而可往生西方，擁有與佛、菩薩相同的永無痛苦之體。

Received 2 calls yesterday from 02920822637, on a spare mobile phone that I keep as a back up. I guess that they have a computer phoning random numbers. I thought that this was illegal? I wish Ofcom was more effective!

Our office mobile keeps getting called from the following numbers and it is driving me mental!!!! I have already registerd my number with the TPS in the UK to avoid these calls, but still they come!! I went to complain to the TPS on their website and a huge form comes up and you have to add loads and loads of detail, including the name of the person who called you, the company etc, so if you dont take the call, you cant ocmplain. AAAAAAARGH!!!!!! the numbers are: 08082381512 and 08719511003

I was also called by 01925 555601, 3 times yesterday. I didn’t answer and definitely won’t now!! I too googled the number as I felt sure it was a business ringing and probably one I didn’t want to talk to but I still had to satisfy my curiosity.

Im guessing its some company, that arent totally legit by swedish standards, is setting up shop through the UK… that’s how they did when swedish television wouldn’t allow commercials directed to children. They just started broadcasting from the UK instead to bypass the swedish laws…

I don’t answer, but I rang them back to find out who they were: “Comms Direct”, apparently. I then hung up (of course).

I have around 20 unansvred calls the last few weeks from +441895204833 to (live in denmark)… Spam for sure. Found this adress on a danish webpage: 123 Main St Columbus OH 32123 SMITH JOHN . I seems that it is an ip phone.

I’ve had several calls today from 02920822631 too but am on Orange. Answered one but they hung up right away and the other two I missed.

I once saw something on TV about these places. Often they are just computers with someone sitting at the other end that dial numbers about 5 at a time. When one person picks up, the others cut out and the poor soul who was quick enough to answer first becomes the first victim of the scam. They generally keep calling until they get you or the computer gives up.

If its someone who genuinely wants to speak to you I’m sure they’d try to contact you another way so I wouldn’t bother calling back at a zillion £s a minute!

In response to David (earlier today), 02920 822637 is Communications Direct who have been mentioned before on this site. They are now using the range from 822633 to 822638. A useful source of information is whocallsme.com. If you go to that site and type in 02920822637 you can see research on the company and the other numbers they are using.

My mum had this number call her and when she picked up it was a recorded message about not paying a bill,

the number is 03069990, i know its shorter than a normal landline number but thats how the number is on my mums phone under received calls, ive had a look on google and it didnt turn anything up

If you do answer one of these calls by mistake, briefly press the # button a couple of times and then say,” Oh ! I’m supposed to tell you that this call is being recorded for legal purposes”.

That usually stops most cold call centres.

One of these callers rang today to offer a £60,000 business loan today. What she didn’t know or overlooked is that the phone is registered in the name of my pet rabbit and she has almost agreed to offer the £60k loan secured on my rabbit’s £140 indoor cage!

Same as Marta (comment written in March 2008), and also from Spain, I have received a call from number 441895204833. I could get to pick up the call on time so I don’t know who was it.
I know 44 is for numbers from the UK but I don’t know anyone there so I have no clue about this phone call.

Wow, there are so many numbers! I got 02920359001 today, I try ring them back its constantly engaged, I work for a phone provider and 95% of these spammers are from the 3 network or companys working on behalf of 3, they are so desperate fpr customers they poach others. The worring thing is, how do they get our details, the only company who should have them is my provider, and I get abuse evryday at work because some company has got there info. Its bloody annoying, but the only thing I can suggest you doing to these people is leading them on in the conversation, its a laugh and they think they are bucks in, so when they ask for your full name, make something funny up, like Iver Biggin, or talk in a foriegn language, then hey will leave you alone =]

Thought it may have been contract agencies etc for work, which can be a bit of a pain as I tend to use the same one, but others constantly ring up.

Anyway, just decided to call back after seeing it published on this website..

After a lot of rings it was answered by someone from “Communications Direct” !!

He didn’t get chance to know who I was….now that I know who they are!!

I had 8 missed calls from01612335844. When I called back from a landline a recorded message said they want me to take part in a Marmite survey. Well, I hate the stuff and told them where to stuff their survey then put the number on thye reject calls list of my mobile. They still kept coming so I googled it and found this very useful site. I had a call from one of thses numbers a while back - just after i’d had to claim on my house insurance, so im suspecting that maybe where they got it from. Anyway, the number began with 01792 so being from swansea I knew the area code. I answered, thinking it was someone calling from back home. He said that he was calling about a claim and needed more details blah blah, so i asked where he was calling from, to which he replied manchester haha fool i said “hmmm are you sure….coz 01792 is a swansea number….” to which there was a long embarasing silence. I just said “bye” and hung up fool. good to get one over on them sometimes

I’ve been receiving calls from 02920 822637 and 02920 822640 ringing just hours apart … I didn’t answer as I didn’t recognise the number and decided to google it before ringing back. Glad I didn’t ring back! Have now added them both to my ‘reject list’.

I was getting lots of these calls a few months back and it was driving me crazy. I complained to BT who put me on a free bar a number service. When you receive a number you don’t recognise you can use the BT service to bar the number all together. The next time they call the phone doesn’t ring. Worth trying, if like me, you’ve been driven mad by this calls!

i have tried everything to block spamemrs and 01925244007 still managed to get through. BT won’t reveal the identity of the caller and I am starting a legal action against BT calling on their responsibility as a carrier to protect me from harassment. It seems I will need a court order to get the identity of the guilty party. So, I’ll write more when this comes through.
